Karnataka contributed major shares in Konkan and gets lesser train or NIL services from Konkan to the Interior Karnataka. Till date No trains are operated from Mumbai - Konkan - Madgoan - Hubbali - Interior Karnataka .Also no trains are operated from Karwar - Madgoan - Hubbali / Interior Eastern Karnataka .
But so many trains are operated beyond Mangalore which prevent train operation from Konkan to Interior Karnataka .
At least now itself SWR and Konkan amicably settled and operate some trains to Interior Karnataka from Konkan .

Dear friend, You are right that not much Karnataka paxs are benifitted due to Konkan travel.
It is mainly due to fact that
(1) except Mangalore not other big population centers are there on Karnataka coast. So not many north bound trains can be started from Karnataka region of KR. Even Magalore-Madgaon Superfast (probably Janshatabdi was not well patronised and has to be withdrawn.

Also saturation of Hassan-Mangalore route has prevented introduction of direct trains from coastal Karnataka (Manglore/Karwar) to Bangaluru/Mysuru.
Major Advantage to Karnataka due to KR
(1) Many trains pass through Karnataka part of KR including Rajdhani/Durontos giving very good North & South connectivity.
(2) Large number of coastal karnataka migrants in Mumbai are benefited through faster KR connection to Mumbai.
Kerala is biggest benificiary as almost all of the major cities of Kerala are getting much shorter Northwards connectivity. Hence Kerala too partnered in KR project, in spite of not a meter of KR falling in Kerala.
