தமிழகத்தில் சென்னை சென்ட்ரல் உட்பட 25 ரயில் நிலையங்கள் மொத்தமாக தனியாருக்கு விற்பனை செய்யப்பட உள்ளன. இதனால் ரயில் கட்டணத்தையும் தனியார் நிறுவனங்களே நிர்ணயிக்கும் அபாயம் இருப்பதால் பயணிகள் கடும் அதிர்ச்சி அடைந்துள்ளனர்.
