Central station has been congested for years, and no meaningful steps have been taken.

Alternate terminal at Royapuram, Tondiarpet, Salt Cotaurs or Avadi would have helped.

Suburban services bound for Gumidipoondi have not...

Diverting trains like ALLP-DHN and Raptisagar via Perambur to free up Platform space would allow for 3-4 originating night trains.

Dependence on Egmore has come down thanks to the success of the satellite terminal. Tambaram is handling more volume, but the need for the 4th line upto CGL will become unavoidable a few years down the line.
