Another pocket pinching time for passengers. Instead of a direct announcement in budget, the railways had ended up trying all other means to make travel expensive.
Increase in cancellation charges, Making ARP to 4 months which ends up with more cancellations, Dynamic pricing, increasing prices of food and bringing in branded outlets like Mcdonalds, pizza hut etc, thus ensuring customer spay more for food. All this in an indirect way has ended up with passengers having to pay more for all

If you don't like Branded food outlets then you don't eat there but other people including me are a great admirer of this decision. These Branded outlets provide us an authentic and Hygienic eating alternative.

I don't find any need of increase in cancellation charges. Railway Board should've fixed the same old rates for cancellation ( Rs.20/- for RAC and WL; 40 for Confirm, etc.) Obviously they are selling the same berth to other person. Then why should poor class passengers shell out the hard earned money?

Pls read carefully. I never said i dont like branded food. Its just a view point that I have made stating that the overall cost of travel has increased without direct increase in fare but instead through indirect means [ increase in cancellation fees, high pricing of food, dynamic fare pricing etc]. I still feel that railways needs to look after a range of customers low end to high end. While the branded food outlets will definitely be preferred by those who can afford, there is also a need to look at the other end of the spectrum also.

Has the "Jun Aahaar'' or ''Junta Khana" outlets been shut down after the introduction of Branded Food outlets, No definitely not. I am also a supporter of this logic that Railways has obligation towards it's each and every passenger, no matter whether he is traveling in AC or General but then everyone should get an alternative. With the introduction of these Branded Outlets, those people got an eating alternative who can afford these. And talking about the increase in overall cost of the journey, my friend neither the Outlets nor the Railways is forcing any one to buy expensive food articles from those Branded shops. If any passenger gives more preference to Luxury over Money Saving then he/she will eat in those stores and If anyone thinks that he/she should not waste money over expensive foods then he is free to buy or carry budget food.
