The semi-high speed train Tejas Express ran at 110 kmph on its inaugural run against the railways’ claim of 160 kmph.
Tejas Express, a semi-high speed train, is supposed to run at 200 kmph. But, on its inaugural run between Mumbai to Karmali (Goa), it touched a maximum speed of 110 kmph.
A few days before it was flagged off by railway minister Suresh Prabhu on May 22, Indian Railways claimed that the train can run at a speed of 160 kmph despite constraints related to rail tracks.
* Actual magnitude of the operating speed of trains, their avg speed and the journey times has really become a vexed issue. Announcement of Member (traffic), RB that BPL Shatabdi does NDLS-AGC at max speed of 140kmph (against the earlier reports of 150kmph which made it speed record holder prior to introduction of Gatimaan) only adds to confusion.
* When BPL Shatabdi was introduced in late 1980s, it was reported that its speed was 140kmph-NDLS-AGC, 120kmph(upto JHS) and and only 110 kmph beyond that along with many upto 70kmph speed restrictions in
Agree with you in all aspects but just an angle to look at is the increase in traffic on such routes. In the context of BPL Shatabdi, the train might not find room to run freely (despite high speeds) for a long time due to the intensity of traffic congestion than what was in the 1980s.
To explain it further, Mumbai-Pune trains can be taken as an example..earlier in 90s Mumbai-Pune Deccan queen used to cover the distance in lesser time compared to now, due to added traffic congestion which wasn't prevailing during erstwhile British era, hence even speed upgradations wouldn't make a much difference as route capacity needs to be enhanced first. This case is applicable to most routes on
Kya faayda 200 Kmph mPS ke coaches banane ka jab 110 PE hi chalana tha..
for advt govt and marketing. People only reads that train with 200 kmph coaches, but who cares about reality. This news will not be shared by IR.
Aap insurance, fd ya lic ku krwaate h ??
Accha ji to kaunsi train jiske coach 160 km/ph capable hai woh 160 ki speed se run karti hai
Kr ko phle 130 krenge uske baad khi ja k kuvh sections me possible hua to 160 le jaaenge,
Baaki abhi to ndls-cdg route ko 200 krne pe kaam chl rha h
After a comfortable trip to Goa, you could soon board the high-speed Tejas Express to travel from Mumbai to Ahmedabad.
While flagging off the first Tejas Express train between Mumbai and Karmali station in Goa on Monday, railway minister Suresh Prabhu announced the introduction of the new service between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
“Very soon Tejas express will start running on Mumbai -Ahmedabad route. It will be launched in some other states as well,”said Prabhu, adding that the rail travel experience in India will be redefined with the introduction of Tejas .
May be they will extend surat tejas to adi
Ye to aankho band hit hogi 😂😂
If news is true.
Good if it starts in present DD slot. It ll eb a perfect converse to Shatabdi. DD can be shofted to 9-10am dep and 4-5 pm arrvl at both stations and can run as tri weekly. If Goa's DD rake is alos tf to WR, then it can run as a daily. :D and extension of DD upo Rajkot can also be considered :D
* This is a logical step, i.e. announcement of BCT-ADI Tejas, because the earlier announced BCT-ST was expected to be extended to ADI sooner or later. If the extension comes with the introduction of this train is much better.
* BCT-ST-ADI shall be the first route for 300kmph+ Bullet trains, which are the ultimate trains for the business class travellers. Tejas is just a step from current premium business class train (Shatabdi) towards the Bullet trains.
* It would be a good step to introduce Tejas trains on the BCT-ST-ADI route, so
It's great to see the Tejas upto ahemdabad connecting industrial hubs Surat,Vapi, etc.,can we see in near future any such train in chennai-bengaluru/hyd,hyd-sbc the top 3 metros in top 5 metro cities of indoa

Tejas Express: Inside Indian Railways’ luxury train that will take you from Mumbai to Goa at 130 kmph!
Tejas Express - Suresh Prabhu's idea of future train travel in India - is ready! Indian Railways is
They will make it fit
As Konkan route is an engineering marvel
overnight journeys k liye seat comfortable lag rahe hai..!!
I think the colour is not that good....i mean the colour of vinyl pasting. It was not attractive. Humsafar livery is too good. I think that earlier Tejas livery was better and sophisticated. But as you said the vestibules are too good.
At present route is fit for 120kmph in non-monsoon season.
But The route is tested for 160kmph.
And even this Tejas will be a slow train with average speed between Mumbai to Karmali/Madgaon to be 53-55kmph only.
Even after inauguration of Tejas, the TVC rajdhani and MAO Janshatabdi still will be the fastest trains on this section.
It can be approved. Because it was built to handle high speeds like 160 kmph. Also it is less of curves and inclines. But due to few accidents, speed was reduced. Only in monsoon, it is little bit dangerous to run beyond 100 kmph.
Livery looks just fine BTW talking about the Max speed in konkan, its only 120 km/hr and that too for only Rajdhanis. P-Way is fit for 160 km/hr run but bcoz some accidents in the past now its strictly confined to lower values.
Coupling seems to be different than normal CBCs..
It is fit for high speeds. Ref: /blog/post/2222693click here
