I traveled in the month of Feb, it was safe back then.
The price from Banihal to Jammu by shared jeeps will be around 400 per head (after bargain).... It will take about 5 hours...

While visiting Kashmir, we took Uttar Sampark Kranti and got down at Udhampur....
From Udhampur, you need to travel all the way Udhampur bus stand, where small buses to Banihal station, shared cabs are available...
