Whilst the alternate route via ETW-GWL is appreciated [the BJU-GWL mail just takes the JHS common route] and good possibility of pax both from AY and LKO [I think LKO only has the regular BJU-GWL Mail otherwise which is daytime].

But I have two questions. Why the stoppage at AMS? I don't think any other express train stops there. The airport is still ~5 km away from the station and connectivity is poor even during daytime [in terms of public transport I mean, even the metro station is ~3-4 kms away].

It's heavily unlikely people will board from here in the middle of the night. Also, would stations like Phaphund or Rura generate traffic considering they come so deep into night. I don't have an issue with the TT of the train. It's still slightly faster than BJU-GWL b/w Lucknow and Gwalior and more importantly, takes a shorter route and avoids a LR.

The stoppage at AMS is mostly because there are many SF trains that are crossing Lucknow which are bound to overtake this train, so instead of just being looped and getting overtaken, It might earn few hundred rupees with a commercial halt at Amausi.
Also Lucknow is expanding rapidly, so I'm kind of hopeful that Amausi station is going to get redeveloped soon.

at Rura and Phaphund are simply because these towns lack proper connectivity because of lying on the trunk route, one or two slow trains can help these towns and for the middle of the night part Sangam, Unchahar, Patna-Kota all have halts here at the middle of the night only. So I'm just giving them an option if they want to travel in this train at night then they can.

Hopefully I have given decent answers to your query, please green flag it and check the return train also
