Glad to see #Kaithal #KLE as a station in the map of punjab before 1947.
#Kaithal station is in commercial operation from 1890. At that time the rail line was only between #Narwana and #Kaithal, in 1910 the line was extended to #Kurukshetra.
From that time there only a single broad gauge line with neither #doubling nor #electrification. Survey for #Electrification of this line was announced in rail budget 2012.

the city had a rail connection to #Kurukshetra and #Narwana which further went to #Jind (local trains only).
On Feb 16, 2014 a direct rail service started between #Delhi and #Kurukshetra via #Kaithal.
On Sep 15 2014, a new express train connecting #Chandigarh and #Jaipur via #Kaithal has been started. This was the first and only express train running via this route.
Historically, #Kaithal was known as #Kapisthal, meaning "Abode of Kapi", another name of Lord Hanuman, and it is said to have been founded by the Pandava Emperor, Yudhishthira of Mahabharata. It is traditionally connected with #Hanuman, and has a temple dedicated to #Anjana/Anjani, the mother of #Hanuman. It is also said that #Kaithal is the birthplace of Lord Hanuman and there is a temple constructed at that place known as "#Anjani Tila".The Vridhakedara (Vidkyar) sanctum of Kaithal finds a mention in Vedic texts of Vaman Puran. Kaithal district with many of its temples, is also an important milestone in #48_Kos_Parikrama_pilgrimage of #Kurukshetra
