It is a short journey and frequent buses are available. No reservations necessary
TNSRTC busses are available from the opposite of the railway station. Plz try to get a nice bus for the trip as TNSRTC busses are so badly maintained. the problem with such busses is that the busses stop only at Very important stops in kerala and stops at each and every stop in TN.
If u get KSRTC busses, the busses are much more spacious, neat and stops at IMportant stops both in Kerala and TN.

Buking of the busses u can approch a lot of tour operators near the station itself. Get out of the station through the main entrance and then cross the road and ask any person the way to Aryas/arul jyothi It is a very good Veg hotel and then by the side of it itself u can see private operators.
If u r so interested i can tell u a temple in between the way to CAPE. It is called Sucheendram. Nice temple and there is a hanuman idol which is said to be growing. Also in TVM dont forget to visit Pazhavangadi Ganesh Temple and also the padmanabaha swami temple. if u want i can give u more details :)
