In view of continuous heavy rain fall and water over flowing the track at various places Chennai and surrounding areas, ALL TRAINS INCLUDING SPECIALS / ORIGINATING/TERMINATING from CHENNAI CENTRAL and CHENNAI EGMORE are CANCELLED till 12.00 hrs of 05.12.2015 .
All the trains including SPECIALS PASSING THROUGH Chennai Central and Chennai Egmore stations are also cancelled till 12.00 hrs of 05.12.2015.

Buddy running trains is not big issue and it may well run till chennai suburbs easily but going from that suburbs/chennai Rly station to your destination (home) in chennai is a big issue now with so much flooding, so better replan unless its a must go situation.
Sad to see loss of so many lives

To be frank..its less bcz in general for the level of rainfall it happened in chennai and flood water will cause more damage to the flow what they have,as we are experienced near my home town.... water even flowed over tha barrage as the inflow is hgh and outflow is unable to reach and what happened if the floods come from high level to low level example is kurnool City floods.
But as MAS is just 5mts above sea level so water is more stagnated than flow
