Upper India earlier used to run to DLI as 13up and 14down (source: click here click here) then was terminated at MGS as 33up and 34 down and extended to BSB as 3133up and 3134down and finally again running to DLI as bi-weekly express as 13119up and 13120down. It has its history rooted to history of EIR/ER. Please correct me if wrong.
Mani Sir, I think that this train should be extended till Saharanpur which is the last big station of UP on Punjab bound trains' route. Another thing that IR can do is re-diverting this train via Sultanpur. In this way, we can have an end-to-end electric hauled train that starts in UP and ends in UP... Mughalsarai - Saharanpur Ekatmata Express via Sultanpur :-D
This train shares slots with three others - Kolkata-Agra Exp., Malda Town- New Delhi/Anand Vihar Exps. Hence, it goes via Pratapgarh using an existing slot. It's just a matter of time before this train gets extended both ways.
