On 19th Jan 2000 Fakhruddin Takulla ( India ) travelled from Mumbai ( Bombay ) to New Delhi, both India, using a ticket he had purchased on 15 July 1973 – 26 years 6 months earlier. Takulla used the unlimited booking service offered by the Indian Railway Authority so that he could attend the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of Indian Independence.

There would be some form of record keeping that railways would have preserved. He had a valid ticket as it was purchased under the unlimited booking scheme which was started by railways on an experimental basis!
Maybe it was that way.
Either way that is too much of a risky venture for me.

Lets see now If Railway remembers his next reservation in 2038 and enter his booking in CRS four months in advance from 2038 departure date
