rail fact : a electric engine consume 39000 units of electricity in one hour , which cost 59000 rs/hr . railway gets electricity on subsidized rates around 1.2 or 1.8 rs per unit .

According to paper dated 15,Oct`15, "Indian Railways have been procuring power through the State Utilities at an average rate of Rs 6.75 per unit. Adani Power Ltd have been awarded the contract at a landed tariff of Rs 3.69 per kWH (unit) for a period of three years,"
