//Do you Know why IRCTC does not allow you to choose seats? Would you believe that the technical reason behind this is PHYSICS.
Booking a seat in a train is far more different than booking a seat in a theatre.
Theatre is a hall, whereas train is a moving object. So safety concern is very high in trains.

Vestibule has nothing to with it,,,,, I was only giving example according to this post about centre of gravity & equal load distribution
Whn DRNTO was non-stop, wht different quota different coach gonna get??
Quota allocation cnt make complete coach empty (nt just 1 bt complete)!!
The basic reason for it is..if u keep coach open for few passenger, the operating cost upsurge, while in non-booked status, it remain close & operating cost remain controlled!! Thats y same quota coach gets filled first b4 opening next coach (the reason as people get SLB in GR or no LB in Rajdhani/DRNTO, even whn 300-700 (GR) empty berth remains is this)!!

Well I experienced this myself so I believe in it. I have a habit of booking tickets at zero date so I always get seats in the middle of a coach. Unless you can give another explanation, we may not know the exact reason.
Obviously in past years this logic wasn't applicable for non-stop durontos. Then other factors will determine the seat allocation. Since there are other algorithms at work, its not possible that one coach is fully packed & other coach is completely empty. Everybody wishes to get lower berths so only after allocation of LB, the other berths will be filled. And I don't know whether the operating cost will change if some coaches are locked & rest are open. I haven't seen such train till now.
Also you can't compare the seat allocation of GR with Raj/Dur. Since there is no quota in GR, so a 20-year boy can get Lower & a senior citizen can get Side Upper. Since these quotas...

M not comparing GR with Raj/DRNTO!!
I have witnessed LKO Shatabdi with 2 Coach completely empty, non-AC functioning & no light on while traveled frm LKO to NDLS & have immense time seen the same for BSB Garib Rath!!
@ Any non peak season, u easily can shift into any empty non-booked or slight booked berth in DEE-YPR DRNTO, while few remain stuffed to complete extent!! Its all no bluff or guess but real travel & booking experience!! For GR, even if its 700+ berth available, if other coach booking hasnt started, u...
