Almost 10-15 years back, remember for almost one year DHN-Allp used to skip Chennai and go via Perambur. It was SR only which reversed the decision as there was lot of demand from passengers. In case of these set of trains, I guess their arrival/dep times from Chennai ( both sides) is at a time when there is relatively lesser congestion (arrival/dep around midnight). Maybe that could be one reason why SR seems to have not much objection for these set of trains.
The real benefit for passengers will only be when skipping these major stations results in lesser travel time

Its not the benefit for passengers but for the staff who has to do the reversal ...they got immensely benefited :P :P
Almost 7 years ago the same proposal was finalised but as it always happens, due to protests from passengers railways continued with the existing arrangement of these trains going to SRR. In any case it doesnt seem that there is going to be a time change so even now have heard reports stating that there there are protests from passenger associations.
Lets see what happens !!

Hope it doesnt have the same fate as 13351 which is running in a pathetic manner after reaching Kerala.
And why cant they get down at Ottappalam/Wadakkancheri? CBE-MAQ pass can be run behind these SFs from Palakkad. And in the return direction, for Dhanbad, CLT-SRR-CBE pass exists, and for Rapti slot trains there is 16860 MAQ-MS running ahead. They should use those connections instead of making passengers bound South of SRR suffer a lot due to slow LR of SRR.

Agree. Best example is todays running. As per NTES train has reached Allp almost 1 hour and 20 minutes before time. What a good way for TVC division & SR to showcase better punctuality.
Just to cater to a small section of daily passengers between TCR-Allp, train is given such pathetic treatment
