I think Sealdah station should be renamed to it's old name Calcutta Station because it is the main railway station in Kolkata. Howrah technically isn't in Kolkata. Code can remain the same like they did with GMO.

You are not correct on this. 2301/02 and 2305/06 HWH - NDLS Rajdhani Express were indeed known as Calcutta Rajdhani.

Though technically Howrah is a different district and municipal corporation, Howrah Railway station do cater to the metropolitan area of Kolkata only. We had a long discussion regarding this topic on irfca as well.
As a matter of fact, even Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata is not in Kolkata district.

Agree. Still Old RF call 2301/2305howrah Rajdhani & 2313 sealdah rajdhani.
Kolkata Rajdhani is seldom called by old rail travellers.

Would you rename Bandra, Dadar, LTT/Kurla in Mumbai? Would you rename Hazrat Nizamuddin, Anand Vihar, Sarai Rohilla in Delhi? Would you rename Yeshwantpur in Bengaluru or would you rename Tambaram in Chennai? What about upcoming Sabarmati Terminal for HSR in Ahmedabad? Same goes for Kamakhya in Guwahati, PPTA in Patna, Hatia in Ranchi, Kochuveli in Trivandrum... All major terminals across the country...
If anyone wants to book a ticket, they're automatically redirected to the requisite station according to train timings and date or Dep/Arr... why unnecessarily do G mein ungal for Sealdah?...
