Earlier it is the direct train to Varanasi but later during Lalu's time as a RM, this train was forcibly extended to Chhapra in 2008 and many South Indians were protested against this. I saw often this train many spiritual tour operators using this train usually above 50-60 ages for visiting Prayagraj Varanasi for doing Pind Daan, Pitru/Shraddha Karma etc also lots of South people visit this above places. Better SR can run another train to Varanasi via BPQ G NIR JBP route for shortest route if slot is not available and there is not even a daily train to Varanasi to Chennai since ages. Travelling in Sanghamitra/Bagmati/other weekly trains towards Bihar and changing at DDU is quite riskier as from an perspective of South Indian spiritual traveller. To accomadate something u need to do something. somehow operationally they made vivek daily which is fantastic move which gave assam &bengal to Kongu& kerala daily connection, which is madly needed one. like wise Ganga kaveri can be adjusted based on reality and demands. If u suggest TPJ, other people might suggest ED, MV and MYS for same reason. Let it be chennai central chapra or Tambaram chappra. going daily is important.

mysore have dedicated. but name kaveri means it is common for MYS ED TPJ TJ MV because river kaveri flows through all places. That is the reason. Even in one of our blogs we discussed this. so we cant justify TPJ extension with name sake Ganga kaveri. other operational reason it wont be issue.
Name is just a thing not mandatory to justify a extension.

that also means GK terminating in Chennai justifiable. TPJ also have RMM MUV train to varanasi for your remainder. so rather than dumping a train in the name reason why cant be leave in the existing catering limit. Chennai to Varanasi.
