A major disaster was averted when timely intervention saved an entire rake of coal ladden goods train from fire near Lambua station on the Varanasi-Lucknow rail route under Northern Railways in Uttar Pradesh 13-12-2012. GRP sources here said one wagon of the goods train going towards a thermal power station in Punjab was damaged in the fire.
Fire tenders were immediately rushed to douse the flames on the wagon. Sources said railway service on the route had not been affected and the goods train had been put on the loop line at Lambua station.
