used as berths. Side Berths u can accommadate 2+1 persons only.. i.e 2 in RAC and 1 person i n SUB... but in regular lower berths. Railways allot 4 RAC + 2 UB = total 6.. extra income for railways. clever na
actually its nt the reason. had it been the reason there would be very high limit of rac in a coach...but as per current protocols only 4 to 6 rac per 2a coach is allotted. the reason for side berth not used in rac in 2a is that there is no obstruction of middle berth in 2a...in sl and 3a there is middle berth...passengers cant sit during night and rac is allotted on the basis of sitting accomodation. in sleeper only side berths are available that could allow unobstructed sitting position...hence the allottment...
it is one of d reason. I think only 6 RAC per 2A coach, not sure
