Nashua NH USA 950 blog postsBreezing through Gangapur City - August Kranti Rajdhani (Aug. 1995) : We went through the station without much fuss. A WAG4-headed tanker train (four wheelers) was standing on the loop. This Bo Bo loco from Kanpur shed sported the same livery as the GZB WAM4.

Yes it was. All the trains towards mumbai from Ahemadabad got a electric loco. Kutch express, karnavati express, Saurastra mail, gujarat mail, Lokshakti express (formerly known as Janta express), Saurastra Janta express, Ahmedabad-Mumbai passenger. I used to live in Mahemdavad and every summer time i go to railway station to catch high speed actions of some of these express trains.
Doesn't make sense?? If WCAM's weren't allotted to AK Rajdhani, obviously a Diesel used to take up, despite if it was a electrified section.
Twin WDM-2's are powerful than a single WCAM n the acceleration plus braking is better.
Twins were needed for high speed run, as WCAM-1 wasn't meant for much high speed. Twin Diesels are enough for 110+ run too, if the section was permitted.

Yes.Earlier both Mumbai Raj and AK Raj used to get twin diesel. BCT RAJ switched over to WCAM-1/2 and WAM-4/WAP-1/4/5/7. But AK RAJ was running with twin diesel till late 1990's.
WCAM-1 wasn't meant for high speed? are you serious? IR used WCAM-1 for karanavati and Ahmedabad-Mumbai central shatabi express and both had less halts (i believe it was vadodara, surat and borivali) like AK rajdhani. Plus shatabdi is fully air conditioned train like rajdhani and they didn't have long rake, anywhere from 12-15 coaches. so why not?
