Commuters unhappy over choice of Perambur as Chennai’s fourth terminalPremium
Southern Railway is facing criticism for its decision to make Perambur the fourth railway terminal in Chennai. Many commuters and social activists believe Perambur is unsuitable due to inadequate infrastructure, traffic congestion, and its proximity to Basin Bridge station, which experiences similar operational challenges. They suggest alternative locations like Tiruvallur, Pattabiram,...

Chennai mein chautha railway terminal banne ke liye Perambur ko chuna gaya hai, lekin is decision se kai log khush nahi hain. I was talking hypothetically. Instead of creating a new problem (Perambur terminal south of suburban lines) to solve the existing one, a better way would be just linking all suburban lines at Beach and making MAS a dedicated railhead for only long-distance trains.
Only disadvantage is It will reduce the number of goods/regular trains plying via MSB.

getting rid of suburban from central would create so many problems. With metro developing Wimco nagar might get stops for north bound train due metro connectivity. As Tambaram will be eventually filled, some more terminal infrastructure should be needed. As phase 2 connects perambut I feel some good chances r there. Avadi is very much cramped and Ambattur RS and BS totally different ways.
Well, MAS is set to lose the North suburban trains to MSB in any case.
Axing the West line from MAS would make life difficult for commuters (myself including) without doubt. I would need to switch at Washermanpet metro to transit to MAS which would set me back by 10-15 mins and the additional metro fare compared to present.

Exactly ! Getting rid of Moore market complex is like getting rid of local station at CST lol. Not happening.
Yes MSB is good station like Churchgate but every suburban terminal serves purpose.
