NHAI & SER refused to work together for laying a 4 lane highway from Tata to Sambalpur, running parallelly along the Howrah-Mumbai Main Line. The new highway would had been approx. 326 kms long, reducing Kolkata-Rourkela Road distance from 550 kms (via Keonjhar) to 467 kms(via Manoharpur)
