Seems like they really need to revise the SRE timings. It arrives between 9:30-9:35 on most days and then needs to wait until 10:15 to depart. Changing this timing would reduce the travel time. Anyway 6h 10m for 314 km of travel is absurdly slow. It really needs a major adjustment in timings, if not removal of SRE stoppage (which I realize is quite complicated)

How can a daily train have rsa with a weekly train ?
12389/90 rake is only used in Mahabodhi when incoming rake of 12398 is delayed which may result in delayed departure of 12397.. to avoid that, Gaya uses Chennai Weekly rake (if available at Gaya)

Regular 3 rake RSA exists to balance equal running kms per rake.
There are 2 reasons:-
1) Having 3 on track 1 train set easily get full service of all parts.
2) If Mahabodhi express delayed then Chennai coaches replaces if available on time.

That Gaya - Chennai rake has SLR near AC Coaches.. it was used in Mahabodhi in winters when Mahabodhi used to get heavily delayed.
