Nice set of pictures and trip details... bad to hear that Durgiana Exp stopped at Burdwan Jn for an unscheduled halt (usually its also a practice to test a SF train if the particular station is being planned for a potential commercial stoppage in future)... :)
But whenever I have travelled it always skipped burdwan even some occasion it skipped it 67kmph.In August last it did burdwan to asansol 106 km in exact 1.03 hours average speed more than 100 kmph and dankuni to asansol 186km in 1.58 hours

Yes kalka is a very small and humble town. Not much of major biz friendly or tourist town, an old traditional laid back town where majority of population has been staying there for 100's of years. Not much of migration or emigration happens in kalka unlike cdg.
