New work.. After back to back sketches of diesel trains, I tried an electric. The overhead catenary jungle is too irritating to the eyes! Seen here is Howrah WAP5 35009 hauling the New Jalpaiguri - Howrah Shatabdi Express, zipping past Prantik. I clicked this during my visit to Shantiniketan back in August. Once this used to be the fastest diesel hauled train of India, with an average running speed of 72km/h and the first diesel train to touch a speed of 130km/h. Now on electric, it lost its uniqueness. I was both fortunate and slightly unfortunate to undertake this Journey, Fortunate because I got to travel in the then only Diesel hauled Shatabdi Exp in the country to do 130kmph; unfortunate because of the windows of the rake. You will realize when you see the Video. It was by sheer luck that @Its AP - The RAIL MANIA and I went on this trip, since a few months later the train was taken over by E locos.
