In fact in the SCR TT proposal for 2019, a 3 hour speed up was proposed in exactly this stretch (screenshot attached) . So dont think the issue is there from their end (SCR). I think CR might be a blocker here. If implemented, then probably against its current arrival time at 4am, it may end up reaching at 1am or midnight....not sure if that is an issue. This is the only train that has been given this much time in this stretch

Yes....this is the only train in the entire route which has been given such ridiculous slack time. In fact SCR in its annual time table meeting had proposed speed up of 180 min (3 hours) in this stretch....but seems nothing happened in that regard. Attached screenshot. A strange answer given by SR when I raised an issue of augmenting the train with additional coaches. The train currently runs with 17 coaches and easily 2-3 more. coaches can be added As per their response this can only be done in consultation with Central railways as there are load restrictions in CSMT. This is surprising as there are so many trains originating from CSMT which run with 21-22 coaches so a bit of surprise this answer.

This is a case study in itself !!! Had highlighted this in a complaint to SCR and the response was the usual cut, copy & paste reply without even trying to understand what is being said.Absolute comical way of scheduling.1-2 hours slack time is still understandable, but 5 hrs is ridiculous. Probably one thing that i see is if speeded up, it might end up reaching Mumbai at an odd time of 1am-2am !!It is regulated heavily as per NTES yesterday. Almost 45 min halt at Mantralayam, 45 min at Raichur, 25 min at Yadgir and then reaches almost 1 hour...
