This is a hell of an idea. How will the passengers reach belagola in the first place. Its not even in Mysore district, way too far, no connecting road, no public transport, does not fall in rapaid bus transit corridor. It takes alteast an hour to reach Mysore from there. In the name of decongesting this will cause lot of inconvenience to passengers. It should be used as coach maintenance yard with pit lines and not a terminal specially for HAS/ASK bound train. NWT/CMNR trains can start as they will pass through Mysore Jn.

This is a hell of an idea. How will the passengers reach belagola in the first place. Funny part is its not even in Mysore district but is proposed second terminal for Mysore station. Its way too far, has no connecting road, no public transport, does not fall in rapaid bus transit corridor, inaccessible to 70% of population through public transport. Autos will charge alteast 300 rupees to Mysore from there. It takes an hour to reach Mysore from there. In the name of decongesting this will cause lot of inconvenience to passengers. Its not a practical solution. It should be used as coach maintenance yard with pit lines and not a terminal specially for HAS/ASK bound train. NWT/CMNR trains can start as they will pass through Mysore Jn.

Yes.No idea how such decisions are being taken without discussion with local rail users. As you rightly said due to inconvenience and expenses towards commuting to II terminal( fr ASK trains) the proposal could be limited to maintenance activity.
The scenario after track doubling completion is to be addressed.

A good move by SWR. However passengers may feel difficulty in getting to and fro Belagola rly station as connectivity either by AUTO or CITY bus is poor now. This has to be improved once Belagola terminal becomes operational. It is matter of another 5 years.

Present plan doesnt look that convincing as only Hassan bound trains will start from Belagola and Bangalore bound trains cant start from here owing to track alignment. Chamarajnagar bound trains will pass via Mysore even if started from Belagola. Better to develop pit lanes for maintenance activity at Belagola for long distance trains and develop Ashokapuram as second terminal.
