Doctors are one of the most qualified and financially well off members of our society. IRlys is prudent enough not to take free services of the doctors travelling in the trains for treating its other passengers. Hence in spite of suffering huge losses from the passenger services, IRlys offered the concession to travelling doctors . If they do not avail 10% concession given to them on basic fare of ticket, which is also not very significant, it should not be an issue. They are in fact contributing to the IRlys and nation.
Doctors are also human beings like us, they feel bad it any of their patients do not recover or survive. Majority of the doctors respect the

oath taken before joining the medical practice. There may be few who have become too money minded to follow the oath. There is nothing wrong if they charge decent fees from the financially well off patients, as the medical education is no longer subsidized as it used to be. But it would be a good service to humanity and nation if they charge the poorer patients reasonably.
Today most of the doctors fear the unjustified retaliation often done by the patient party, if anything goes wrong with the patient. If anybody say that doctors cannot do render any medical help to other needy passengers while travelling in train due to non availability of medicines, does not hold good. Even without medicines, doctor can guide the patient to take proper precautions, what to do and what not to? At least something is better than nothing. Govt can even permit to consider allowing doctors to practice while on the journey, by charging a reasonable fee (Govt fixed) and also for the essential medicine which they may be supposed to carry.
Life saving drugs and drugs for common ailments like fever, vomiting, loose motion, first aid medicines/ consumables etc should be maintained on the running trains in small quantity under the custody of TTE/ guard/ loco driver. These medicines will be useful to the travelling passengers & Rly staff alike. If this is done, prescriptions or treatment can be availed through telemedicine (making the best using of satellite technology and internet). Today this is not difficult proposition as IRlys is already giving online help to travelling passengers in distress through twitter.
