It is always better to plan and take steps in advance so as to be ready to meet the anticipated long term future challenges/requirements. Magnetic levitation technology is much costlier than Bullet train technology and is still evolving. It is possible that the ongoing research in superconductivity may give a breakthrough and make the Maglev technology techno-economically beneficial than BT technology.
