* Even present freight locomotives are capable of 100 kmph operational speeds but are hauling loaded freight trains at much lesser speed (60-85/90 kmph) mainly due to limitations imposed by weak Rly track, bridges etc.
* Most urgent requirement to increase maximum and avg. speeds of all the trains is to strengthen Rly track to permit running of trains to their rated capacity.
