Looking at these pics it's clear that someone has deliberately cut the track. Look at the smooth edges of both the ends, this isn't a regular crack.

It is the act of saboteurs. Indeed very scary. If such things happen, travelling by train will be very risky. I feel for the LPs who try hard to take us to our destinations safely, but have to face so many hurdles.
