Do you have any understanding of state corporation buses? Bus corporations are state undertakings - NOT private travels. Private buses can operate from wherever they want to any place. State undertakings can operate from their state to another state only. They can pass through the 3rd or some cases 2/3 other states.

By going through TN, KL buses and KA buses use up KMs of TN, so as far as possible they use direct route. There are many buses which use Salem route too. Then whatever TN Kms are used, those KMs TN uses for plying its buses to KA and KL.
