* Past major indigenous development with respect to coaches was the 160 kmph potential (IR-Y bogies with IRY shell) coaches which were supposed to be mainstay of futuristic 100mph Super Shatabdies and later Super Rajdhanies of IR. The first and probably only such rake is being operated as swarna shatabdi express since 1998. Before these coaches could proliferate, suddenly decision for import of 200kmph speed potential LHB coaches and its serial production in India was taken.
* And now, after 20 long years, the Indigenous Train sets with 175kmph speed potential shall be a major step. Speed potential of only 175kmph is a bit disappointing. We can hope that T-18 shall be 175kmph and T-20 shall have higher speed potential (200kmph)
