Bengaluru's first driverless metro, operating on the Yellow line, is undergoing testing for its signalling system integration. undergone 37 tests, with further tests focusing on system integration with signalling, telecommunications, and power supply. Mandatory safety tests, including oscillation trials and inspection by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS), are scheduled. Once these tests are completed, recommendations will be provided to the railway board for approval before commencing revenue service. The Yellow line, spanning 18.82 km, connects RV Road to Bommasandra, passing through key locations such as Jayadeva Hospital, Silk Board Junction, and Electronics City. It consists of 16 stations and has connections with the Green Line Metro at R.V Road Station and the Pink Line at Jayadev Hospital Station. The line includes a 3.13 km metrocum-road flyover from Ragi Gudda to Central Silk Board, aimed at reducing traffic congestion at Central Silk Board junction. The Yellow line is designed to enhance connectivity to areas with major IT companies and south Bengaluru. BMRCL plans to initially operate the line with a trip every 20 minutes, totaling 57 trips per day. The driverless metro was initially projected to be operational in 2021, but the deadline has been extended to December 2024.
