NGT wants suburban rail to take green route

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has taken suo motu cognizance of concerns surrounding the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (BSRP), which involves the felling of nearly 33,000 trees. tribunal has impleaded the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), Karnataka Rail Infrastructure Development Company (K-RIDE), Karnataka Forest Department, and the District Magistrate of Bengaluru Urban as respondents to the proceedings and issued notices for them to respond. The decision to fell trees for the project has been met with opposition from citizens and environmentalists. K-RIDE organized a public consultation on June 14th, during which over 2,000 objections were received from citizens. Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), Karnataka Rail Infrastructure Development Company (K-RIDE), Karnataka Forest Department, aur Bengaluru Urban ke District Magistrate ko respondents banaya hai aur unko notice issue kiya hai ki woh apna response den. Is project ke liye trees kaatne ke faisle se citizens aur environmentalists naraz hain.
