The future of the Sabari Railway line, which has been awaited for nearly a century in the hill region, is again uncertain as the central government has shown interest in the Chengannur-Pamba railway line. The proposal for the Chengannur-Pamba line was accepted after the viability of the Sabari line, proposed from...

Angamali to Erumeli decades ago, dimmed. The central government had approved the Sabari line in the 1997-98 budget. It would pass through Ernakulam, Idukki, Kottayam, and Pathanamthitta districts, covering 116 kilometers. This project, requiring 470.77 hectares of land, aims for the overall development of these districts. The central government alleges that the state government's delay tactics have affected the project. Despite allocating 100 crore rupees for construction in the 2022-23 financial year, the railway withdrew the funds due to the state's inability to start work promptly. Special Tahsildar offices were opened in Perumbavoor and Pala in 2006 and in Muvattupuzha in 2010 for project implementation. Subsequent joint surveys by the railway and state revenue department resulted in land acquisition and the completion of 90% of railway line construction from Angamali to Kaladi. A bridge was also built in Kaladi. The project was included in the pink book of the railway for 2022-23. In January 2021, the state government decided to participate in the project and committed to raising 2000 crore rupees through KIFBI. However, no further steps were taken. In December, the center approached the state with a revised estimate, but the state has not responded. This has led the central government to conclude that the project won't proceed. Land acquisition has been completed for only 17 kilometers. The state has also not agreed to the center's requirement of sharing half the cost. The 73 kilometers from Kaladi to Ramaapuram, where land was measured and marked, have left hundreds of families unable to sell or mortgage their land. There are also criticisms that the line, which doesn't reach Erumeli, will disrupt pilgrimage centered there, affecting a large section of pilgrims. The Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan denied the central government's allegations regarding the Sabari line, accusing them of playing politics. The state's stance is that the Angamali-Erumeli line, where land acquisition has begun and the sale and purchase of land for hundreds of people has been frozen, can be implemented quickly. Meanwhile, the state's railway minister V. Abdurahman welcomed the central government's interest in the Chengannur-Pamba line. He said that they had sent around 10 letters to the center, agreeing to share half the cost of the Angamali-Erumeli line and promising to repay any loans. Abdurahman asserted that this line would be beneficial to Sabarimala pilgrims.

Sabari Railway line ka future, jo ki hill region mein almost 100 saal se wait kar raha hai, fir se uncertain ho gaya hai kyunki central government ne Chengannur-Pamba railway line mein interest dikhaaya hai. Chengannur-Pamba line ka proposal tab accept kiya gaya jab Angamali se Erumeli tak Sabari line ka...

plan, jo ki decades pehle tha, fail ho gaya. Central government ne 1997-98 budget mein Sabari line ko approve kiya tha. Yeh line Ernakulam, Idukki, Kottayam aur Pathanamthitta districts se ho kar jayegi, 116 kilometers lambi hai. Yeh project, jiske liye 470.77 hectares land chahiye, in districts ka overall development bhi chahta hai. Central government ka kehna hai ki state government ke delay tactics se project par negative impact pada hai. 2022-23 financial year mein construction ke liye 100 crore rupees allocate kiye gaye the, par state government ka time pe kaam start nahin kar paye, toh railway ne woh funds wapas le liye. 2006 mein Perumbavoor aur Pala mein, aur 2010 mein Muvattupuzha mein project implementation ke liye special Tahsildar office khule. Uske baad railway aur state revenue department ne joint survey kiya, jiske result mein land acquire kiya gaya aur Angamali se Kaladi tak 90% railway line ka construction complete ho gaya. Kaladi mein ek bridge bhi bana. Yeh project 2022-23 ke railway ke pink book mein tha. January 2021 mein state government ne project mein participate karne ka decision liya aur KIFBI se 2000 crore rupees raise karne ka commitment diya. Par uske baad koi action nahin liya gaya. December mein center ne revised estimate lekar state se baat ki, par state ka koi response nahin aaya. Isse central government ne project ke cancel hone ka decision liya. Sirf 17 kilometers mein land acquisition complete ho paya hai. State ne center ki half cost share karne ki demand ko bhi accept nahin kiya. Kaladi se Ramaapuram tak 73 kilometers, jahan land measure kar ke mark kiya gaya tha, wahan hundreds of families apna land nahin bech paye ya mortgage nahin kar paye. Iske saath hi criticism bhi hai ki yeh line, jo Erumeli tak nahin jaati, wahan centre wali pilgrimage ko disrupt karegi, jisse bahut se pilgrims affected honge. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan ne Sabari line ke baare mein central government ke allegations ko reject kiya aur unhe politics khelne ka ilzaam lagaaya. State ka kehna hai ki Angamali-Erumeli line, jahan land acquisition start ho gaya hai aur hundreds of people ki land ke sale and purchase freeze ho gaye hain, woh jaldi se implement ho sakti hai. Iske saath hi state ke railway minister V. Abdurahman ne central government ka Chengannur-Pamba line mein interest dikhane ka swagat kiya. Unhone kaha ki unhone center ko around 10 letters bheje hain, jisme unhone Angamali-Erumeli line ka half cost share karne ki agree ki hai aur loan repay karne ka promise kiya hai. Abdurahman ne yeh bhi kaha ki yeh line Sabarimala pilgrims ke liye bahut faydemand hogi.
