4.7 lakh from the Railways, who were found liable for the breach of security. The NCDRC rejected the Railways' argument that they are not liable for unbooked luggage, stating their duty to ensure passenger safety in reserved coaches. Chaturvedi had already won compensation at the district level but faced further challenges before ultimately securing the final verdict in his favor.

NCDRC ne Railways ki argument ko reject kar diya ki woh unbooked luggage ke liye responsible nahi hain, kyunki unka duty hai ki woh reserved coaches mein passengers ki safety ensure kare.
