Vaishnaw further announced that railway projects worth Rs 33,467 crore are currently underway in the state, including the development of 77 stations. Additionally, 2,500 general class coaches will be manufactured, and over the next few years, the railways plan to introduce 5,000 more coaches for unreserved travellers. Singh also revealed that two additional lines will be laid from Perambur to Ambattur, after which the final proposal for the fourth terminal will be submitted for approval. Regarding the delayed Kilambakkam railway station, Singh confirmed that the construction issue has been resolved and the station is expected to be ready by October. The third terminal at Tambaram is being developed under a public-private partnership model. A detailed project report will be submitted to the railway board before work commences. The railways have completed their portion of rail over bridges at 40 locations, but the state government has yet to begin work due to land acquisition issues.
