আজ ৩১ শে জুলাই ২০১৬, ভারতীয় সময় দুপুর বারোটার সময় আগরতলা ( ভারত) - আখাউড়া (বাংলাদেশ) ১৫ কিমি নতুন বিজি লাইন এর শুভ শিলান্যাস করবেন দুই দেশের মাননীয় রেলমন্ত্রী শ্রী সুরেশ প্রভাকর প্রভু মহাশয় ( রেলমন্ত্রী , ভারত ) এবং ম. মুজিবুল হক মহাশয় ( রেলমন্ত্রী , বাংলাদেশ ) .অনুষ্ঠানের প্রধান অতিথিরা হলেন শ্রী তথাগত রায় ( রাজ্যপাল , ত্রিপুরা ) এবং শ্রী মানিক সরকার ( মুখমন্ত্রী , ত্রিপুরা )Laying of Foundation stone of Indo - Bangladesh BG railway line by Hon. আখাউড়া থেকে ভারতের আগরতলা অবধি লাইন পাতার কাজ খুব শীঘ্রই শুরু হবে , প্রায় ১৫ কিমি এই বিজি লাইনের ১০ কিমি বাংলাদেশে আর ৫ কিমি ভারতে , বাংলাদেশ অংশে রেললাইন পাতার জন্য অর্থায়ন করবে ভারতীয় বিদেশ মন্ত্রক ( জমি অধিগ্রহণ ব্যতীত ) আর ভারতীয় অংশে অর্থায়ন করছে ভারতের উত্তরপূর্বাঞ্চল উন্নয়ন মন্ত্রক (Ministry for Development of North Eastern Region) . আগরতলা থেকে ভারতের নিশ্চিন্তপুর সীমান্ত অবধি লাইন উড়াল পথে আসবে এবং এখানে একটি বড় ইয়ার্ড হবে তারপর এটি বাংলাদেশে প্রবেশ করে গঙ্গাসাগর স্টেশন আসবে এবং সেখান থেকে আখাউড়া স্টেশন অবধি বর্তমান এমজি লাইন এর পাশ দিয়েই বিজি লাইন পাতা হবে।
