Station Travel Tips
Nearest bus stand- cum rickshaw stand= Rathbari more. Rickshaw to this point will take rs. 15-20. All buses including state buses stop here and even wait for a while.
All the semaphor signals are being changed from both nfk end as well as njp end in malda town r.s to digital signal. From nfk end its from maananchapally rail gate and from njp end it starts from just from a distance of 1 or 1/2 km ahead
The ticket reservation counter is far from main gate. It is on the remote corner, gate no 2.There are only 2 foot Bridges in the plat4m.
Refreshment room, waiting halls, cloak room etc all are on pf 1. AC and non AC retiring rooms with dormitory are available. IRCTC food stall and another of South indian cuisine are too on pf 1. Ladies upper class waiting room is also there.

There is an SBI ATM in the main station building facing outside. Another one is nearby the station- like 300 meter away. Ask any nearby shopkeeper for its direction.

more... the night deepens, hawkers start selling roti- sabzi, boiled egg, sweets on the pf. Thiz iz the speciality of this station. Many people buy from them even from the window.
No checking at the gate and sometimes tight checking- it's unpredictable.
One thing I remember about Malda is aam papad and aam achaar. Aam papad was good but got cheated in the achar. They have an open bottle for tasting which is great but the sealed bottle they give you when you buy is not at all good. Be careful when you buy.
