Tirunageshwaram temple is a famous temple located about 10 kms from Kumbakonam dedicated to Lord shiva. Though Lord shiva is main deity, the snake planet "Rahu" is the reason of fame for this place. Rahu is one of the nine planets (Navagraha) as per the mythology and this place has the idol dedicated to Lord Rahu. it is said that when milk abisheka is done at this temple, the milk turns visibly blue (Blue indicating venom of snake). This temple is believed to be place to cure the Naga Dosha or the curse of the serpent
