This station is actually located in town BANAVARAM and no where located inside town sholinghur. SHOLINGHUR IS LOCATED 15KMS away from this station, though Public transport is avilabe to reach sholinghur from here, for better frequency Arakkonam station is best to reach. From arakkonam station walk a little and lot of sholinghur buses will be plying than from here. Also Arakkonam-sholinghur town road will be better than this...
The Holy Town Sholingur is 16 kms from the railway station and bus services are said to be less.It is advisable to alight at Arakkonam and travel to the temple by Bus/car and the frequent buses.
Just a heads up, Sholingur, the sacred spot, is about 16 kilometers away from the train station. Word on the street is that the bus options are a bit thin on the ground. Your best bet? Get off at Arakkonam and catch a ride to the temple by hopping on one of the many buses or grabbing a car.
SHU- Sholingur is easily accessible from AJJ or even SHU nowadays. From AJJ stn, we need to come bus stand by Auto and take a bus to SHU. One can get down @ the Kaman(Arch) itself instead of going to the town. There temple (1345 stemps) opens by 6 and closes by noon. Better to start as early as possible to avoid scorching heat.... more...
. On the adjacent hill, there is Hanuman temple(500 steps) and a must visit temple. Practically, both temples cannot be covered in a single day. . Sholinghue is easily accessible from tiruttani also.
No it's possible to cover both temple in same day in just 6 hours. I'm 20 year old and I myself without so much stepping experience have done so... 1305 steps big hill and 401 steps small hill. Check my photo from top hill during that day I went there click here
Just an updated station tip to the one already existinh below. After getting down at SHU, walk towards end of pf and take the pf3 side exit( there is no as auch exit). Autoes to SHU town or temple are available in plenty. Autoes do exists on pf1 side, end of the road near to booking counter.
Just a quick tip for the updated station information below.
Once you get off at SHU, walk to the end of the platform and take the exit on the side of platform 3 (there isn't any other exit). There are plenty of auto-rickshaws available to go to SHU town or the temple. You can also find auto-rickshaws on the other side of platform 1, at the end of the road near the booking counter.
Traveling to AJJ or KPD is just a waste of time.
