There are plans to run inter-cities on that line, in the near future.
let new line works complete first.
will take time, plus electrification reqd.
that will mostly be Day time ICE (08627/28) may get regular via that route.

The line is nearing it's completion, only some streches especially Kamarpukur and Joyrambati are yet to be connected....
The delay in completion is mostly due to a overhead bridge construction near Kamarpukur which has raised some land disputes between the officials and the locals.....

Yes . Land acquisition was problem. Got cleared couple of days by Kolkata high court . Work should speed up now.
Actually I was in Kamarpukur when this circus was going on....
