Yog Nagari Rishikesh will get more trains in future , no doubt, once the line to karnaprayag is completed. I'm not against development of stations and providing trains on that route.
But it does not make DDN any less contender for long distance rail connectivity.

2. As a capital city with a substantial population, DDN requires long distance rail connectivity.
Plus , distance between DDN and YNRK is not a "short and smooth drive" .
3. Ignoring a station opened in 1899 providing a gateway to devbhoomi - headquarter to important state administrative and army establishments , and "completely" shift focus on the new line is not a good idea . A smart and balanced approach is needed .
4. During my stay in doon , it used to be so difficult to get a confirm ticket to NDLS in Nanda Devi and to JP In uttaranchal express . No wonder many times we preferred road over rail .

1. It's just that they should have introduced new trains or extended the ones terminating at HW or changed RKSH terminating trains to YNRK, instead of taking away DDN terminating trains.

Mere khilaf nahi hain ki stations ka vikas ho aur us route par trains chalane ho. Lekin isse yeh bilkul bhi nahi hota hai ki DDN long distance rail connectivity ke liye kisi kum contender ban jaye.
1. Bas yeh hai ki naye trains ko introduce karna chahiye tha ya phir HW par terminate hone wali trains ko extend karna chahiye tha ya fir RKSH par terminate hone wali trains ko YNRK par badalna chahiye tha, DDN par terminate hone wali trains ko sarakna nahi chahiye tha.
2. Ek rajdhani shehar ke roop mein ek bade population ke saath, DDN ko long distance rail connectivity ki zaroorat hai. Aur DDN aur YNRK ke beech ki doori "choti aur asaani se chalne wala" nahi hai.
3. 1899 mein khule ek station ko ignore karna jo devbhoomi ka darwaza, mahatvapurn rajya prashashanik aur sena ki sansthao ka mukhyaalaya hai, aur "poori tarah se" naye line par dhyaan kendrit karna achha vichaar nahi hai. Ek chatur aur santulanit approach ki zaroorat hai.
4. Doon mein mera rehne ke daur mein, Nanda Devi aur Uttaranchal express mein NDLS aur JP tak confirm ticket lena bahut mushkil hota tha. Koi ashcharya nahi ki hum bahut baar sadak se train par prefer karte the.
