For the convenience of passengers during Christmas holidays and with a view to meet the travel demand during the festive season, W. Rly will run Special train between Mumbai Central and Mangalore Jn. Train No. 09009/09010 Mumbai Central – Mangalore Jn. Weekly Special train on Special fare (via Vasai Road) (4 Trips)
Train No. 09009 Mumbai Central – Mangalore Jn. Weekly Special train will leave Mumbai Central at 23.15 hrs on every Wednesday, will arrive Vasai Road at 00.30 hrs, the next day and will reach Mangalore Jn. at 19.30 hrs, the second day (Thursday). This train will run from Mumbai Central on 28th Dec, 2016 & 4th Jan 2017.
Similarly, Train No.09010 Mangalore - Mumbai Central Weekly Special train will depart from Mangalore at 22.30 hrs on every Thursday, will arrive Vasai Road at 15.40 hrs the next day and reach Mumbai Central at 17.50 hrs on second day (Friday). This train will run from Mangalore Jn. on 29th Dec, 2016 & 5th Jan 2017.
The train will halt at Borivali, Vasai Road, Panvel, Roha, Khed, Chiplun, Sangameshwar, Ratnagiri, Kankavali, Kudal, Sawantwadi, Thivim, Karmali, Madgaon, Karwar, Kumta, Bhatkal, Mookambika Road Byndoor, Kundapura, Udupi, Mulki and Suratkal stations in both directions.
It will have AC 2 Tier, AC 3 Tier, Sleeper Class and Pantry Car coaches.
The booking for Train No. 09009 Mumbai Central – Mangalore Jn Special train will be opened from 22nd December, 2016 at all PRS counters and IRCTC website.

This route has a great potential as running trains to Konkan from western railway will lessen the hassles of going all way to dadar/thane/ltt and since Konkan railway has good passenger traffic, this train must be made regular for betterment of passengers.
