Madurai division of the Railways informed that the district panchayat president, S. Jayamohan, the Punalur MLA, K. Raju and the Punalur municipality chairperson, Radhamani Vajyananad will also be present. The train will bear the number 56715 during the Punalur-Kanyakumari run and number 56716 in the return run.
The Kanyakumari-Punalur train will run from September 2. In its regular schedule the Punalur-Kanyakumari train will leave Punalur at 6.15 a.m. and reach Kanyakumari at 1.05 p.m. In its return journey the train will leave Kanyakumari at 2.35 p.m. and reach Punalur at 8.10 p.m.
The train will have seven second class coaches and two luggage coaches. It will halt at Avaneeshwaram, Kottarakara, Ezhukone, Kundara, Kilikollur, Kollam, Varkala, Thiruvananthapuram Central, Nemom, Balaramapuram, Neyyattinkara, Dhanuvachapuram, Parassala, Kuzhithurai, Eraniel and Nagercoil.
The train will have seven second class coaches and two luggage coaches.
