their demands at the meeting.
Panigrahi, deputy chief traffic controller, and Deepak Jha, chief passenger traffic manager, represented ECoR.
City activists, who fight for introduction of trains from Visakhapatnam, alleged that ECoR officials had played foul in
proposing the Bhubaneswar-Bangalore train. In fact, officials of Visakhapatnam-based Waltair division requested ECoR
to introduce Vizag-Bangalore daily train.
Sources said ECoR had also objected to the proposal of a double-decker train between Chennai and Visakhapatnam
citing maintenance problems at the coaching yard in Visakhapatnam.
JV Satyanarayana Murthy, convener of Visakhapatnam Railway Zone Sadhana Samiti, alleged,
"Passenger services at Visakhapatnam railway station will not improve as long as it remains with the ECoR zone.
It is high time the Waltair zone is separated from ECoR," he added.
