First train to operate from Sir M Visvesvaraya Bengaluru terminal Train no.12684 Ernakulam Express has started it's journey today.

Given that ERS-BAND remains at Banaswadi for almost 14 hours, this train can be easily looked at for extending to Shivamogga. I think there was some discussion around this doing the rounds. Shivamogga can also end up having direct connectvity to towns like Salem, Erode, Coimbatore, Thrissur,Ernakulam. Can be a good option for passengers from these places during Sabarimala season as well.

Those trains are SR ERS based operating to long distance to GJ RJ and extention to any part will further increase the round trip by 600km. It needs to be seen whether SM PM cycles with distances from ERS as well as in WR can accomodate extention. If it is an independent rake then extention will not be a problem. But best part would be to increase frequency of Hubli TVC exp to biweekly or 4 days such that the quota will be allocated upto Tumkur.
I think UBL-KCVL slot is being used on other days by other trains ( ERS Band, YPR-KCVL AC exp). Maybe one day is still available. But then UBL-KCVL does it have any independent rake or is it rake sharing with some other train. That option can be explored

Southern railway has notified of merging of TN-12683/12684 ERS-BAND-ERS(Bi-weekly) SF EXP (current TN-06129/06130 ) and TN-22607/22608 ERS-BAND-ERS weekly SF EXP (current TN-06161/06162)and operating the merged service as Tri-weekly service. Details are as under. click here

SR won't run any more Bangalore trains via allp as it is low revenue-making line. SR will allow more long-distance trains especially other zones via ALLP
Then how are they getting revenue with 16315/16??
Actually, there are many people boarding and getting down at ERS, ALLP and SRTL.
Even ALLP line comparatively generates revenue because of Tourism and Arthungal Chruch at SRTL.

You can file and get the revenue details. How much from each station to banaglore.
I have done it earlier and I have the data with. With that, I am saying the ALLP line is lower passenger earnings stretch.
