Any departure from Pilibhit is an event and this spirited one by Alco YDM-4 unit 6507 sure grabs the attention of the local youngsters who live in the dwellings beside the line.
The service is the well patronised 15.10 to Mailani Junction (train 52221) and this shot was taken from the Shajahanpur line which turns sharply south at this point. The signal gantry lies outside the curve for sighting purposes and guards the level crossing and station approach for trains coming off this line.

It's dawn at Pilibhit, the sun is just starting to burn through the cloud, and the semaphore signals stand proud as MG Alco YDM-4 unit 6533 arrives with the 4.35am from Mailani (train 52222). Gauge conversion will likely start here within the some days at which time the old semaphores will be swept away, along with much of the quaint building structures, to be replaced by colour lights and new purpose built platforms.
