The WAM-4 class has been phased out from mainline service long ago but technically, they still exist ! The WAG-5 class was born out of the WAM-4 class by changing the gear ratio & most of the remaining configurations were the same.

The loco is equipped with Alstom made TAO659 TMs & configured with a gear ratio of 21:58 which makes it equivalent to a WAM-4 locomotive or a WAG-5P in other words. Usually, WAG-5 locomotives have a gear ratio of 17:77, 18:64 & 15:62.
